Lamp One

(Copper alloy sheet, steel wire, used lampstand)

While home from university I made this as a christmas gift to my parents. A copper sheet, creased on one side and rolled into a tube. It is fixed with a wire at the top and allowed to flare back out at the bottom. A used lampstand is then put in the tube, and the cord snakes its way out. Because copper is so malleable, I invariably try to modify it every year, pinching and pulling it. It always makes it worse. That original tension of the wire knot and the springing out of the bottom end was all that the lamp ever wanted to be.
